On March 15, 2013, it files its 2012 tax return showing net income of $6,300 and tax of $557 ($6,300 x 8.84 percent). The corporation pays the $557 tax when it files its tax return. Since the corporation did not make any estimated tax payments, an estimated tax penalty is due, based on the tax of $557.
